Stewardship Miracles in the Bible
While God’s sovereign power is evident even in His moment-by-moment providential sustaining of creation, at times God demonstrates His power in a unique way: through a miracle. Through extraordinary acts, God shows the nations that He alone is God, the ruler of the universe. Acting either directly or through His prophets, in the Old Testament God used miracles to defeat those who trusted in false gods or to evangelize the Gentiles. In the New Testament, Jesus, God’s Son, demonstrated His divine nature through the many miracles He performed during His earthly ministry. The apostles, empowered by Christ’s Spirit, proved through the performance of miracles that the authority given to them by Christ was indeed legitimate. All God’s miracles are stewardship-related in that they have to do with His lordship over the world and generosity toward His people.
